From the looks of this huge smile and extra pep in my step, I simply want to say

CONGRATULATIONS to the 2009 NCAA Champs! It might be easy to say this game appeared to be over before it began, but let’s not fool ourselves to think this was an easy accomplishment for my Heels. Their hard work and dedication shined brightly on Monday night. In case you are unaware, let me inform you that there is a certain expectation once you throw that Carolina blue jersey on your back. By representing the historic coaches, players, and business professionals that are a part of the UNC family, we expect nothing but greatness from each other…and the way those guys played was nothing shy of greatness!

I tip my hat to the tough journey from the end of last season to Monday’s win. First and foremost, basketball is a game, but it provides lessons we can use throughout life. The glitz, glamour, money and fame of the NBA can easily distract young men from the importance of maturity and education.  With the guidance of Coach Williams and the basketball staff, the team was able to maintain their focus to accomplish the goals that were originally set.

There can only be one 2009 NCAA MEN’S BASKETBALL CHAMPION and I am proud to be a UNC Tar Heel!
