Vince Carter is offering one basketball academy this summer once the National Basketball Association season has ended. Traditionally called basketball camps, the basketball academies offer an education station where fun-filled activities focusing on mathematics, language arts, and thinking skills are played. Vince knows just how important summer camps were for his development as an all-star basketball player. He enjoys hosting the academy where he once again gives back and helps young aspiring players and beginners learn and hone their skills.
The Vince Carter Youth Basketball Academy is open to girls and boys, ages 8 to 17. The 2012 Vince Carter Youth Basketball Academy is Monday through Friday, July 9-13, 2012 in Daytona Beach, FL at the Vince Carter Athletic Center. Girls and boys learn basketball skills, teamwork, life skills, and have fun. Vince participates on a daily basis, campers receive a team picture with Vince, one autographed item of their choice, and various give aways and recognitions. There are two age specific sessions, 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Dear Visions in Flight staff,
B.J. and I would like to say thank you for a great week of camp. To Vince, you are truly amazing; your genuine dedication to children is incredible. We really need more positive role models like you who are positive on the court (an amazing athlete who exhibits great sportsmanship and leadership) as well as off the court (an accomplished and charitable entrepreneur). B.J. is committed to being a better “student athlete”, instead of A-B Honor Roll, his goal is to make the all A honor roll this year. The second day of school he started reading an AR book; he wants to be a top reader of books for the 5th grade. He is also working on his “Ups”; he wants to be able to dunk next year in Middle School.
To “Auntie” Thank you, B.J. has read the book he received at camp. He is watching his intake of “junk food”, reduced his Wii, Xbox, and Playstation 3 playing times, and makes sure he doesn’t cheat during exercises at football practice. He enjoyed your presentations and the Education center.
All of the coaches were great! Coach Matt, Thank you for your “Magic Therapy” for B.J.’s elbowJ Coach Joe, excellent idea adding stretches to music, B.J. enjoyed it and is working on a routine for our Jr. Magic Basketball team the upcoming season.
I also benefitted from the camp, the “closed door” policy allowed me to explore and see the city of Daytona (I think I crossed all the bridges during my lost times), but by the end of the week, I knew my way around. The “closed door” policy also helped B.J. focus solely on working hard to improve his game, and learn new skills (the spider is his favorite, he wowed the crowd at our local camp the following week after your camp).
We are looking forward to next year’s camp and have added the email addresses of our Jr. Magic Basketball team parents to enable them to receive the newsletter and info for next year’s camp as soon as the dates have been set. Keep up the good work . . 123
